Cision Appoints Joe Bernardo CEO and President of Cision North America
Steve Newman Remains as Non-Executive Chairman of Cision North America
CHICAGO, October 1, 2007 – Cision today announced that Joe Bernardo will be appointed CEO and President of Cision North America, effective January 1, 2008. Current CEO Steve Newman will retire from active management on December 31, 2007, but will remain in an advisory position as Non-Executive Chairman of Cision North America, working with Joe Bernardo and Cision AB President and CEO, Niklas Flyborg. In his new role, Joe Bernardo will report directly to Niklas Flyborg and will have overall responsibilities for North American operations.
Joe Bernardo joined Cision North America's predecessor company Bacon's Information in December 1998 as Executive Vice President and COO, and has most recently served as President and COO of Cision North America. He assumed operational responsibilities at Bacon's almost immediately upon his arrival and was instrumental in the integration of the MediaMap, Delahaye and Multivision acquisitions.
Prior to joining Cision, Bernardo was President and Publisher of Futures Magazine and its related operations at Financial Communications from 1993 to 1998. He was President of MGI of Chicago, a computer services firm, from 1987 to 1993 and served as General Manager at the Official Airlines Guides from 1976 to 1987. He holds an MBA from Loyola University and resides with his wife Julie in Wheaton, Illinois.
Steve Newman joined Cision in 1990 as President, COO and a Member of the Board of Directors. Prior to joining the firm, Steve served as President and COO of MGI Corporation from 1982 to 1990. He began his career at Planmetrics, a planning consulting firm, where he served in various roles from 1971 to 1982. He resides in Lake Forest, Illinois, with his wife Carol.
