Cision and IABC Present 2008 Research and Measurement Conference

Experts from L’Oreal, Weber Shandwick, Towers Perrin and Cision headline seventh annual forum

CHICAGO, IL, October 8, 2008 — Cision, the leading provider of media research, distribution, monitoring and analysis services, and the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) will present the seventh annual Research and Measurement Conference from 22–24 October at Le Royal Meridien King Edward Hotel in Toronto. The conference, titled “Communication Management and Measurement in Complex Organizations,” will provide the knowledge and insight that communication executives require to demonstrate return on investment for their public relations and communication initiatives.

Designed for corporate communication and PR directors, the conference will bring together practitioners from Fortune 500 companies as well as academics, consultants and other industry leaders as faculty. The conference will provide opportunities to explore best practices, discuss professional issues and solutions with peers, consult with experts and make new business contacts.

The conference will support corporate communicators in developing and evaluating effective programs in the areas of corporate reputation, social media, employee engagement, global media analysis, strategic PR campaigns and more. Leading practitioners will present an inside look at how they apply the latest research and measurement techniques to real-world campaigns.

Highlights of the conference include:

  • Paul Gillin, writer, new media consultant, former editor of Computerworld and author of The New Influencers, will present the opening keynote session on “Secrets of Social Marketing.”
  • Jennifer S. James, senior vice president of corporate communication and external affairs at L'Oréal USA, will speak about management and measurement of external corporate media relations programs at the world’s largest beauty company.
  • Lynn C. Brown, vice president of corporate communication at Waste Management Inc., will speak about corporate reputation measurement and management at the leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental services in North America.
  • Judy Lewis, co-founder and executive vice president of Strategic Objectives, one of Canada’s leading independent PR firms, will demonstrate how PR can be the secret weapon to build brand equity and advance market penetration.
  • Angela Sinickas, ABC, IABC Fellow, president of Sinickas Communications, Inc., will teach you how to calculate the return on investment (ROI) on your communication.
  • Mark Schumann, ABC, managing principal at Towers Perrin and vice chair of IABC executive board, will present new findings from the Global Workforce Study conducted by Towers Perrin and lead an enlightening discussion of how to package senior leaders for a new consumer.

Thought leaders from Cision will include K.C. Brown, Cision senior vice president, on “Staying Afloat in a Sea of Social Media, and Heidi Sullivan, director of media research, on “Engaging Customers and Critics in a Web 2.0 World.”
