Cision Announces ‘EdCals,’ PR Industry’s Largest Free Source of Editorial Calendar Information

Cision’s New Free PR Tool Improves Personal Productivity and Reduces Irrelevant Story Pitches

CHICAGO, October 15, 2010 – Cision, the leading provider of software, services and tools for the media and public relations industry, today announced EdCals – a free, online public relations software tool that makes it easy for PR professionals to know the stories that major media outlets are working on, and when and how to contact them.

Offered through an online portal powered by the award-winning CisionPoint PR software platform, the editorial calendars in EdCals let users reach the right media at the right times with the most relevant story ideas – improving communication between the media researching their stories and the communications professionals who serve them.

EdCals offers a comprehensive listing of upcoming stories scheduled by thousands of news outlets around the world. It is a free resource available to any professional communicator who signs up for an account.

“EdCals eliminates needless hours searching for the right opportunities and – because it reveals what the contact actually needs – avoids wasting the journalist’s time with an off-target pitch,” said Vanessa Bugasch, Cision’s Senior Vice President, Global Marketing and Product Marketing.

EdCals lets users search by typing in their keyword topics and date ranges (including lead times and deadlines). It then returns information on the outlet (including details about the outlet and a hyperlink to its website), submission deadlines and issue dates. Results can be exported into spreadsheets or directly into a calendar, with reminders for approaching deadlines. EdCals also supports mobile web browsers; easily accessed via mobile devices such as the iPhone, Blackberry or Android.

EdCals, which can be found at us.cision.com/edcals is part of Cision’s expanding portfolio of resources designed to enable professional communicators and the media to more easily engage and interact. Other free services can be found on cision.com in the PR Professionals and Members of the Media sections of the site. In addition, the award-winning CisionPoint PR software platform offers a powerful, integrated set of capabilities that allow PR professionals to plan campaigns; connect with influencers; monitor print, broadcast, online and social media coverage; analyze results; and demonstrate ROI.
